Jemma Tranter of Maroochydore likes a bargain and the fact that the centre is home to so many of her
favourite stores.

 Meet the neighbours

There is no shortage of new neighbours to meet and greet at Home Central Kawana so we would like to introduce you to one of the fantastic newcomers.

Fantastic news for Home Central Kawana

The past week has been a flurry of activity for Home Central Kawana’s newest tenant, Fantastic Furniture.

More than 3,500 customers swept through the doors during its opening day last week and there’s no sign of the flood of excited customers abating just yet.

The store is a first for the Sunshine Coast and second for Queensland with another based at Morayfield.

Fantastic Furniture Group Managing Director, Julian Tertini, said the company’s decision to open their first store on the Sunshine Coast, was part of their plans for continued growth throughout Queensland.

“Our new store at Home Central Kawana is ideally situated in one of the fastest growing urban areas in Queensland,” he said.

“This means that we are well positioned to provide Sunshine Coast residents with a wide range of high quality, value for money furniture choices.”

From humble beginnings in the early 90s, Fantastic Furniture (Fantastic Holdings Limited) has achieved national Retail Group Sales of $235.3million in the 2005/06 financial year representing a 6% increase on the corresponding period the previous year.

With Fantastic Furniture’s plans to open more stores across Queensland and Australia in the future, the Home Central Kawana store brings the total number of stores nationally to 54.

Home Central Kawana team.

vicki_burton
Up close and personal - assistant centre manager, Vicki Burton

1. What is your role at Home Central Kawana?
My role is to assist and support centre manager, Ainslee McCall, in all facets of centre management.  This involves developing policies, procedures and plans and forming good working relationships with all of our tenants.

2. What are your key responsibilities as assistant centre manager?
Ensuring the smooth operation of the centre management office forms a large part of my role and day-to-day activities.  Part of this is liaising with tenants, store owners and staff on all
business matters.

3. What is your retail and centre management experience?
I have worked in Investment Property Management for the past four years
on the Sunshine Coast and previously in private enterprise in New South Wales.

4. What do you like best about working in centre management?
Centre management is very interesting as it is extremely diverse. You have the chance to meet a myriad of people in an environment which is visionary, energetic and ambitious.

5. What are some of the challenges which face you and your team in managing Queensland’s biggest bulky goods centre?
A centre management team, especially a new centre which is as large as Home Central Kawana, is faced with daily challenges. The key to exceptional management and dealing with any challenge is a team in which individual talents and abilities complement each other as is the case with Ainslee and myself. A sense of humour is also very handy!

6. What is your vision for Home Central Kawana?
I would like to see Home Central Kawana develop into the preferred shopping destination on the Sunshine Coast. As it is the Sunshine Coast’s largest homemaker centre we see this as a
natural progression.

7. What is your favourite household room or item?
Most definitely the verandah.

8. What is your favourite Sunshine Coast pastime?
Spending time at my property at Maleny in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
